Televised start for Yeovil

-

YEOVIL Town begin their Vanarama National League campaign under new manager Chris Hargreaves with a trip to Scunthorpe United, freshly relegated from League Two.

Hargreaves, who took over from Darren Sarll, will be looking for a winning start in the 5.20pm game, which is being televised by BT Sport, for whom the Glovers boss has perviously worked as a pundit.

Glovers will be without winger Tom Knowles who has joined Walsall on a two-year deal with the option of a further year, for an undisclosed fee. The 23-year-old scored nine goals in 42 league appearances for the Glovers last season having joined from Cambridge United in November 2020.

Hargreaves said Lawson D’Ath could be involved today and added that there were a few other players struggling with injury issues, but he did not name any players.

Meanwhile, Glovers teenagers

Toby Stephens and Oliver Haste have joined Truro City on threemonth loan deals.

Bath City open up their 2022/23 Vanarama National League South campaign against Dartford FC at Twerton Park today (3pm). The Romans will look to build on their impressive pre-season form which culminated in a convincing 2-0 away victory against Southern League side Yate Town.

Promoted Taunton Town, who wrapped up their pre-season schedule with a 5-2 win over Tavistock, start life in National League South by welcoming Welling United to the West Country (3pm).

Chippenham Town, who lost in the last season’s play-off eliminator to Dartford, head to Ebbsfleet United today.

In National League North Gloucester City face a long trip north to Darlington while Hereford welcome Spennymoor to Edgar Street.
