FOREST Green Rovers have signed winger Sean Robertson on a permanent contract. The 21-year-old started his career with Premier League side Crystal Palace - and remained at Selhurst Park throughout his development until his departure this summer.

Robertson spent the beginning of pre-season on trial at Sheffield United and Derby County - before deciding to become part of Ian Burchnall’s squad for their debut League One campaign. On his move to Nailsworth, Robertson said: “I’m at a stage now where I need to be playing men’s football. Forest Green is a great club for me to start this journey.”

Head coach Ian Burchnall said: “Sean can play as a wing-back on both sides or more advanced as a winger or part of a front three. He’ll give us more competition and depth in those areas with Harry Boyes being injured and he has plenty to offer us. He’s a young player who is hungry to succeed.”
