Either Sunak or Truss should concede now

-

DOES the Conservative Party seriously believe that after leaving the country rudderless while two self-serving individuals fight between themselves to get into Number 10 amid a cost of living crisis, rising inflation, the threat of a recession, the war in Ukraine and sweltering temperatures leading to water rationing and consequent food famine, with absolutely no suggestion from either of any measures to address this myriad of problems, that they will ever be re-electable in the foreseeable future?

If either of the contenders had a scrap of concern for the welfare of our country, one of them would surely concede defeat.

Otherwise we will remain rudderless until September 5th, after which only 21 days remain before the conference season begins. Very little time to put measures in place to comprehensively address any of the pressing issues, let alone form a united cabinet.

Sunak and Truss are so diametrically opposed on so many subjects, neither should serve in the other’s cabinet but no doubt they will. Why do we have to put up with this dreadful ongoing situation? Wendy Mellish
