We need to build desalination plants

-

MARGARET Thatcher had a “boot sale” of the country’s utilities, which were eagerly bought up by foreign buyers and Conservative grandees. Since then they have enjoyed a dividend at our expense.

Now we are in a drought position the water companies expect us to go without, while they allow millions of gallons of water to drain away.

Thames Water has a desalination plant but it is not used. Why? We are an island surrounded by water, why do they not build units for times like these? Answer – the bosses, and those who invested, will not fill their pockets with our money.

The thought of losing money is more important than the nation suffering. It is time for the government to buy back our utilities, paying the same price as at the time they purchased them. The money they received over the years will more than compensate for the value they are worth now.

At this moment I regard politics and politicians as trash. If the other side came into power they would be controlled by union bosses and the country would go back to the ‘Red Robbo’ and Scargill era. We need a joint government like we had in the war to work for this country!
