Tigers have reacted well, says Dawson

-

KEVIN Dawson believes he and his fellow Gloucester City players have reacted well to their defeat on the opening day of the National League North season.

Since losing 3-1 at Darlington, the Tigers have beaten Boston 2-0 and Peterborough Sports 3-1 in home games at New Meadow Park to lie third in the early-season league standings.

City return to the North East this afternoon with an away match at Blyth Spartans.

Midfielder Dawson said: “The boys are in good form. We’ve had a couple of good results after the disappointment of Darlington.

“It’s been a good reaction from the boys. It’s the end of a tough, three-game week, but all the focus is on Blyth and we’re looking forward to it.”

Hereford, meanwhile, have started the campaign with a win, a draw and a defeat, and today host newly-promoted Buxton, who are one point better off.

In the National League South, Chippenham return to action for the first time since last week’s abandoned match at home to Chelmsford when Pablo Martinez collapsed on the pitch.

The former Bristol Rovers man is now recovering, and his teammates head to high-flying Worthing looking for their first points of the season.

Chippenham lost their opening game of the season, and had their midweek match postponed.

Taunton are still searching for their first goal of the season after a goalless draw and a couple of 1-0 defeats. They host Dartford this afternoon, while Bath City, who have four points thus far, are at home to Braintree, who have begun the season similarly.

In the National League, Yeovil go to Altrincham hoping to add to the solitary point they have so far earned from their three matches.
