Jackson ruled out of Town’s clash with Oxford

-

CHELTENHAM Town wing-back Ryan Jackson will miss two to three weeks with a hamstring injury picked up during last Saturday’s 1-0 win at Exeter, writes Jon Palmer.

The 32-year-old was forced off just before half-time and replaced by Charlie Raglan, with skipper Sean Long moving from the right of the back three to cover at wing-back.

Jackson has started all five of the Robins’ League One matches so far, but completed only one 90 minutes after missing much of pre-season.

He arrived on a one-year contract on July 21 after being released by

Gillingham. He was brought to the Robins after it became clear Matty Blair was going to be a long-term absentee with a knee problem.

Whaddon Road teammate Elliot Bonds is expected to miss around six weeks with a stress fracture to a metatarsal, while 18-year-old striker Zac Guinan is facing a long spell on the sidelines with a serious knee ligament injury.

The Robins, will hope to build on their Exeter victory when Oxford United visit Whaddon Road in the A40 derby today. Both sides have four points so far.

Forest Green Rovers must put back-to-back 3-0 defeats behind them when they tackle one of Sky Bet League One’s heavyweights away from home today.

The Green Devils face Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough having lost 3-0 at home to Plymouth last weekend and then by the same scoreline to Premier League outfit Brighton in the Carabao Cup.

Forest Green beat Bristol Rovers on the opening day of the season, but have taken just one point from three subsequent matches in the third tier.
