New $700m cruise liner spotted off Dorset coast

A TRIPLE-decker go-kart track is one of the high-octane activities available on the world’s newest cruise liner, which was spotted off Dorset earlier this week.

Popstar Katy Perry helped christen the Norwegian Prima in Reykjavik in Iceland last weekend.

She was spotted off Portland on Thursday as she visited various European ports before her maiden journey with paying customers, which begins today.

The $700 million cruise liner will depart on inaugural voyages to northern Europe today, before making will make her way to the US, where she will be based for the next two years.

Her variety of recreation­al activities including the fastest slides at sea – The Rush and The Drop – and the Prima Speedway, the first three-level racetrack at sea.

She was built in Marghera, Italy, by famed shipbuilde­r Fincantier­i.

Norwegian Prima is 965ft long (294m), 143,535 gross tons and able to accommodat­e 3,100 guests. The vessel has 20 decks, featuring nearly 1,600 staterooms, 18 dining venues and 17 bars and lounges.
