Play to restart at Wentworth
THE BMW PGA Championship will resume today following the postponement of yesterday’s play after the death of the Queen.
Thursday’s first round at Wentworth was suspended with 30 players still on the course when Her Majesty’s death was announced.
The course and practice facilities were closed yesterday, but play will restart today, with the tournament reduced to 54 holes. A two-minute period of silence will be held at 9.50am.
The DP World Tour said in a statement: “We join other sports in celebrating the extraordinary life of Her Majesty, including the Test match between England and South Africa, Premiership rugby union, and the Great North Run in the north east of England.”
