New gas exploration won’t lower bills

-

THE UK Government has reintroduced fracking against the advice of Government scientific advisers and virtually everyone else who knows anything about this highly destructive technology. In addition, they are going to enable more than 100 new permits for gas and oil exploration. None of that will lower energy bills one iota. In fact, it will help them stay high by discouraging the alternative – renewables which produce energy at almost a tenth of the cost.

They are also choosing to make the people of this country pay the Truss Tax over the next few decades to finance the oil and gas companies’ entirely unexpected and absurdly high profits of around £170 billion.

That suggests the mission of this Government is to protect the earnings of the very rich and to do that by forcing low/middle earners into picking up the tab. It also suggests fossil fuel companies are first in line for Government support and ordinary people are last.

And yet there is an answer to all this which seems to be being ignored completely. Google the following... ‘No miracle tech needed: How to switch to renewables now and lower costs doing it’.

This reports an extensive study from Stanford University in the USA. It says all energy in the 145 countries which emit 99.7% of world carbon dioxide could be replaced with existing carbon free technology for about $62 trillion. Due to the $11 trillion annual energy cost savings, the payback time for the new system could be less than six years.

Twenty-eight million more long-term, full-time jobs than lost worldwide! Only about 0.53% of the world’s land needed – most of this area being empty space between wind turbines on land that can be used for multiple purposes.
