Russia did not have to invade Ukraine

-

I’LL refer to the letter written by the Putin apologist in the WDP on September 22nd. I will not refer to the individual who wrote it.

Russia had nothing to fear from Ukraine or the West at any time.

Who on earth would want to invade Russia? Even the Russians don’t want most of it. If Putin had not fostered separatist factions inside Ukraine in the first place, there would have been no need for the protracted conflict that has taken place in the Donbas. It is regrettable that the UN had no teeth when it came to the annexation of Crimea.

NATO is not a belligerent organisation and has no function that allows it to attack any country, being entirely defensive.

Russia did not have to invade. Russian speaking people are all over Ukraine, the vast majority now free from the appalling dictatorship prevalent right next door are perfectly happy where they are.

It is typical of the left to cry “Fascists” at every turn. There may well have been factions who harbour those tendencies, but they exist in every country, largely impotent and certainly not capable of taking over. Russia’s assertion of “protection” rings a bit hollow considering torture is their default setting even within their own borders, added to in this case by completely indiscriminate missile attacks on Russian speaking men women and children.

This certainly is not a pointless and contrived conflict. The front lines are currently where they are only due to the fighting spirit of those who will not tolerate rampages through their streets and homes. They could be much closer, and we need to ensure that every means at our disposal is taken to stop Russian aggression in its tracks before the mass graves are opened to reveal even more atrocities.

Serial fantasist Putin has only his legacy in mind, apart from his love of solid gold bathroom fittings, being quite happy to commit many thousands of his hapless and ill-equipped troops to assuage his embarrassment.

We should not bow down to bluster and threats from such a man.

His army? Vlad’s Army. “Don’t tell him Lavrov”.
