Forest Green renew rivalry

-

FOREST Green Rovers and Exeter renew their rivalry in a lunchtime kick-off at the New Lawn today.

The two clubs finished level on points at the top of Sky Bet League Two last season, but the Green Devils edged the title on goal difference on the final day of the campaign.

So far this season, however, the Devon side have made the better start. Exeter have earned 11 points to Forest Green’s eight, although the Grecians have lost their last two League matches.

Forest Green slumped 2-1 at home to Morecambe last week, but bounced back with a 2-1 win at Newport in the EFL Trophy in midweek.

Prior to the Morecambe loss, they had arrested a goalless and pointless run of games with a 2-1 win against Accrington Stanley followed by a creditable 1-1 draw away to Charlton.

However, the Morecambe loss left Forest Green third-bottom of the table, immediately below West rivals Bristol Rovers and Cheltenham Town.

Swindon, meanwhile, remain unbeaten in Sky Bet League Two since the opening day of the season and are closing in on the promotion chasers after turning a run of draws into victories.

Scottt Lindsey’s side travel to Grimsby today, with the Mariners doing similarly well thus far.

Swindon lost 3-1 to Plymouth in the EFL Trophy in midweek.
