Popular Marine Lake to re-open

WESTON-SUPER-MARE’S Marine Lake re-opens to the public today after work to replace its sluice gates. The seafront lake closed last month to allow work to replace two faulty gates.

The lake re-opens at 9.30am ahead of a Bollywood synchronised swimming event at 11am tomorrow, which is being held as part of Weston Arts and Health Festival.

The replacement of the sluice gates is the latest in a series of works at the lake being carried out as part of North Somerset Council’s Great Lakes project.

The lake was drained for the work to be carried out and was expected to refill from overtopping tides this week.

It is hoped the new gates will help ensure water is retained in the lake and assist with the removal of any build up of silt.
