Villagers facing eight months of disruption in gas pipes upgrade

-

VILLAGERS in Kewstoke face eight months of disruption as work to upgrade gas pipes gets under way.

The £550,000 project starts on October 17 and will take until next June to complete.

Wales & West Utilities said the work is essential to keep the gas flowing safely to heat and power local homes and businesses.

A spokesman for the firm said: “Barring any engineering difficulties, it will be complete in June next year.”

The work will involve a series of road closures in the village, the first of which will last seven weeks.

Beach Road will close on October 17 until December 2 from number 115 to its junction with Sand Road. A four day road closure will also come into force on the junction of Lower Norton Lane and Crookes Lane from October 24-18.

Crooks Lane will also close again from October 31 to December 9 from outside Meadow Lee Caravan Park to the junction of Beach Road. A road closure will also be in place from outside Beachlands Park Homes to the junction of Beach Road from December 12-23.

Additional traffic management will be in place between January and June 2023 and residents and businesses affected by the works will be told directly.
