The act of bed blocking is very real

-

I hear about the NHS being congested by bed blocking, but I have just visited a whole ward in the BRI full of bed blockers.

I expect the hospital would confirm that there are more bed blockers scattered on other wards. It brought home to me how extensive this problem is.

A financial solution to this problem is for the NHS to bill the local authority with the cost of caring for these hospital residents.

The local authority would then take its responsibility more seriously. Or the NHS would build efficient care homes with the funds received.
