Retirees are heading back to work
Three-quarters of retired people are prepared to take a part-time job to bring in extra cash during the cost-of-living crisis, a new survey reveals.
One in six have already returned to work and 59% have inquired about it.
Researchers for Churchill Retirement Living questioned 1,500 retirees. A total of 74% said that while they were not eager to return to work, they were prepared to do so.
Six in 10 reported being hit by the crisis and most said they would need to take some form of paid work within a year.
Churchill CEO Spencer J McCarthy said: “Retirees may not be as likely to have mortgages but they, too, are seeing costs rising.
“As a result, they want new ways of maintaining a comfortable lifestyle.”
