Approach pleases Ian

FOREST Green Rovers head coach Ian Burchnall is adamant that his team are on the right track – and should have more than the one point they have collected from their last two League One games.

The Green Devils went down 1-0 at home to Portsmouth last weekend before following-up with a hard-fought 1-1 draw at Fleetwood in midweek.

Today Rovers, who lie 22nd in the table, visit ninth-placed side Barnsley, who are managed by former Cheltenham Town boss Michael Duff.

“If we take the Portsmouth game and the Fleetwood game – we should have more than one point from those two games,” Burchnall told his Friday press conference.

“What I am happy with is the way we’re starting to approach games, the way we’re passing the football, the way we’re being a bit braver in possession. It’s a little closer to the identity we want.”

Elsewhere, Swindon, who have risen to sixth spot in League Two off the back of two successive victories, are on the road against Mansfield, who are two places higher in the standings but have the same number of points.

Robins boss Scott Lindsey told his pre-match media conference: “I think we might be better than we think we are. There’s not one game where I’ve gone out not wanting to actively win. There’s a lot of belief in the squad.”
