TOTUM CARD

The biggest student discount card and app is now called Totum (it used to be the NUS Extra card). You can buy a card for £14.99 for a year or £24.99 for three years, or sign up for the free digital version (totum.com).

It gives you access to big offers on beauty, food, fashion, essentials, tech, travel, home delivery and lots more. Plus you can get a free Tastecard which gives savings at restaurant­s, pizza delivery, cinema and more.

There’s also Unidays, a free app that offers money off everything from clothing and tech to food and drink. And Student Beans is a free app and website offering lots of discounts.

YOUNG PERSON’S RAILCARD

The Young Person’s Railcard (16-25railcard.co.uk) gives you a third off train travel. It costs £30 for one year or £70 for three. You can get £10 off the price from Totum, or buy a card for £10 through Tesco Clubcard points.

NATIONAL EXPRESS

For even cheaper travel, you can go by coach with National Express, and for £15 (including postage) for one year or £32.50 for three years, a young person’s coachcard (nationalex­press.com/en/offers/ coachcards/young-person) gives you a third off – plus special £15 fares anywhere in the UK.

ICELAND

Iceland gives students 15% off. You just need to pick up a Bonus Card to swipe in store, and then show your student ID.

AMAZON PRIME

Sign up to Prime Student, and you’ll get Prime free for six months as well as exclusive offers. After that you are offered it for £4.49 a month, but you don’t have to join.

MICROSOFT OFFICE

Get Microsoft office for free (microsoft.com/en-gb/education/ products/office) – all you need is an academic email address. It comes with 1TB of storage, so you won’t run out of storage.

DELL
