Energy prices hit electric car sales
More than 70% of drivers have been put off owning electric vehicles by rises in energy prices, a study says.
An AA survey found it was the main reason for not switching for 10%.
Some 63% of 12,500 drivers said bills made them more reluctant to go green but 3% own an EV.
AA president Edmund King said there are almost 500,000 full EVs in the UK.
In a speech he is set to say: “The cost of living and higher electricity costs are deterring almost three quarters of drivers from making the switch now.”
Petrol and diesel sales will be banned in 2030.
EV registrations during the first three months of 2022 were 102% more than the same period in 2021.
But in September the increase fell to 40.3%.
