‘Give the fans something’

-

BOSS Mark Cooper has urged his Yeovil Town players to “give the fans something to cheer” when the Glovers host rock-bottom Gateshead this afternoon.

While the Green & Whites are four places above The Heed in 20th spot in the National League standings, they are only two points better off, having drawn 0-0 with Maidenhead in midweek.

Cooper told his pre-match media briefing: “You don’t expect fans just to be cheering, you have to give them something to go on, a cross, a shot, something to get them off their seat. Just by having a go, being on the front foot, that’s what they want to see.”

In the National League North, injury-hit Gloucester City must attempt to break a three-match losing streak that has seen their initial charge under Steve King falter. Scarborough Athletic are the visitors this afternoon.

Hereford, who are nine places but just five points behind the sixth-placed Tigers, have an away game at bottom side Telford, who have won just once this term.

In the National League South, FA Cup heroes Chippenham will hope to translate that form into points when they go to Dover, while Taunton have a home game against third-from-bottom outfit Cheshunt.

Bath City’s home fixture against Worthing has been postponed.
