You can’t blame Liz Truss for everything

-

BACK in 1939, fascism threatened to engulf the world. As we saw, with Donald Trump’s attempt to deny the democratically expressed will of the American people and the UK’s increased powers to stop protest, fascism is on the rise again.

In order to defeat the Nazis, extreme measures were taken, including taking all but the most essential petrol-driven vehicles off the road. Would Mrs Capel (letter, Nov 14) have told Churchill, Atlee and Beaverbrook to go to China?

I’d have thought that, as a farmer, she would have been all in favour of replacing synthetic oil-based fibres with wool.

You can’t blame Liz Truss for all that has gone wrong in government over the last 12 years. Be fair. She was only in the job for five minutes. Who knows what she might have done? The parliamentary party doesn’t know what to make of a powerful woman, who isn’t their nanny.
