Trio return as Chapman is loaned out

-

THREE key players are expected to be back in contention when Cheltenham Town host Wycombe this afternoon, writes Jon Palmer.

Defender Caleb Taylor, right wing-back Ryan Jackson and front man Alfie May – who scored four goals in the Robins’ amazing 5-5 draw at Wycombe in February – are all back in training.

Taylor, 19, is being put through concussion protocol and, should he get the all-clear, would return after a one-match absence.

Summer signing Jackson was forced off ten minutes before the end of the 2-1 FA Cup defeat by Alvechurch and was also ruled out of last Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Ipswich due to a back problem, while last season’s Player of the Year May, above, made his comeback from an ankle ligament issue against Alvechurch as substitute and looks likely to be available for the visit of the Chairboys.

However, Robins midfield man Ellis Chapman has joined up with Oldham Athletic on loan for an initial month.

The 21-year-old has made two League One starts for the Robins this season, along with a further three outings from the bench and four cup appearances.

Chapman went on from the bench five minutes from the end of last Saturday’s game at Ipswich, but now heads to the National League in search of regular firstteam football.

Oldham, managed by David Unsworth, lie 21st in the fifth tier ahead of this afternoon’s trip to fellow-strugglers Maidstone.
