Six arrested over firearms incident put on police bail

SIX people who were arrested following an incident on the A40 near Gloucester on Tuesday have been released on police bail.

There were reports of a firearm being discharged in the Highnam area and armed police were deployed to the scene.

Police have renewed their appeal for information and dashcam footage after the incident saw a stretch of the A40 closed with the police helicopter circling overhead.

Detectives want to speak to anyone who was driving between the A40 Highnam roundabout and the Longford roundabout via Over between 9.45am and 10.15am on Tuesday.

Officers responded after reports that at around 10am on Tuesday the occupants of two cars had made threats towards each other and a firearm had been discharged from inside one of the vehicles.

It was also reported that the cars were being driven in an erratic manner and had collided with two vehicles which were travelling in the area.
