‘Hero in the dressing room’

-

CHIPPENHAM Town manager Gary Horgan believes a hero can emerge from within the Bluebirds’ dressing room when they visit Burton Albion in round two of the FA Cup tomorrow.

The National League South club pulled off one of the shocks of the first round when beating third-tier Lincoln City at Hardenhuish Park, although the scorer of the winning goal, Joe Hanks, is set to miss the match at the Brewers with an ankle injury picked up against Hastings in the FA Trophy.

Should Chippenham manage to take a famous victory, they would be in the draw with the Premier League giants including Manchester City, Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal.

Horgan told a press conference: “I said before the Lincoln game, and I believe it again now – there will be a hero within our dressing room.

“We’ve had a hero in every round so far. Luke Russe, Harvey Greenslade, and Jordan Young scored at Sholing.

Caine Bradbury scored against Met Police, at Hendon we had Joe Parker pop up. Then, obviously, there was Joe Hanks against Lincoln.

“There’s been a different goalscorer and a different hero in every round.”

■ Yeovil Town face in-form Halifax in the National League this afternoon.

The Glovers have shown signs of an improvement under Mark Cooper, but Halifax have hit a purple patch of their own of late, taking ten points from the last four games to lie six points and five places above 19th-placed Yeovil.

In the National League North, Gloucester City, who have lost their last four matches in the sixth tier, have an away game at fellow mid-table outfit Kidderminster, while Hereford host high-flying Darlington.

In the National League South, Bath City and Taunton Town are playing just a matter of miles apart this afternoon with the Romans at St Albans and Taunton visiting Hemel Hempstead.
