Angela’s shock Strictly confession

-

STRICTLY Come Dancing star Angela Rippon proved she’s full of surprises and admitted to being ‘naughty’ this week.

The 78-year-old Plymouth-born presenter is the oldest contestant in the history of the BBC One show but has wowed viewers.

Paired with professional partner Kai Widdrington, the duo appeared on Wednesday’s instalment of It Takes Two to discuss their Strictly Come Dancing journey. They will be dancing the Quickstep for Movie Week, with Angela being transformed into Julie Andrews to dance to The Sound of Music’s Do-Re-Mi.

But during their interview, host Janette Manrara admitted she’d never watched The Sound of Music. To her surprise, Angela revealed that she had not either.

Angela, pictured below, jumped out of her seat and screamed: “No I’ve never seen it either! Ever!”

Despite never having seen the movie, Angela will be turning into Julie Andrews’ character, Maria von Trapp, tonight.

Janette asked: “What do we do?

Do we watch it together?” To which Angela said: “We’re not bad people because we’ve not seen it!”

The former newsreader continued: “I’ve actually seen it in the theatre because a friend of mine was playing Mother Superior.”

“I know there are things I will not be able to do,” she admitted. “So please can we make sure I do the things I can do as well as I possibly can. Flexibility is not the key element to The Quickstep. We are working on technique and the simplicity of the Quickstep and where it originated from.”

Angela still does the splits and exercises every day – and she’s also been impressing the judging panel with her moves.

The presenter has already performed a high kick which dazzled viewers of the hit BBC show in week one.

However, she did admit on Instagram in recent days: “I ache, everywhere.

“This is a beautiful dance when it’s done properly, but you wouldn’t believe the physical contortions you have to do!”

And posting on her Instagram, she admitted to being ‘naughty’ for not given fans an update. The post said: “It has been a very long working week, sorry we haven’t been active on the socials, naughty us, but we have been busy in the rehearsal room.”
