Opponents will come closer together – Flynn

-

SWINDON Town boss Mike Flynn thinks Bradford City’s players will circle the wagons following the exit of boss Mark Hughes.

The former Manchester United striker was sacked earlier this week with Bantams down in 18th place in League Two having won just three out of 11 matches this term.

By contrast, Swindon are just four points off the top of the standings with a game in hand, although they lost for the first time in the League this season when leaders Notts County triumphed 3-1 over the Wiltshire side in midweek.

Flynn, right, a former Bradford player, told his pre-match media conference: “I am sorry to see Mark

Hughes lose his job. I know the club well and I have a lot of respect for it.

“The timing of (the sacking) will bring the players closer together, it was getting a bit hostile towards the end. There is nothing we can do about that, we still have to play our game and do that for the duration.

“Because of reaching the play-offs (Bradford last season), expectation is that you kick on.

“I won’t say why they haven’t as I don’t know the ins and outs. There are expectations, but when the fans see players trying they get behind you. When I was there they saw that and they can handle that.”

Swindon lie in sixth position ahead of today’s trip.

Forest Green Rovers boss David Horseman will see a familiar face in the dugout when the Green Devils visit Accrington Stanley in League Two this afternoon.

Second-from-bottom Rovers take on 15th-placed Stanley today.

Horseman said: “Accrington have done brilliantly over the years and John Coleman is a brilliant coach.

“I did my A-Licence with him 15 years ago.

“They have some really good players and a really nice mixture in the way they play.

“Some of their short passing is really good, but they also have some big, physical players in the team. It will be a tough match.”
