BEST B&B AND PLACE TO GO
BOTH the Best South West Bed & Breakfast and the Best Place to Go awards were won by Highcliffe House, a 5-star bed and breakfast, located in Lynton on the North Devon coast.
“These awards hold a profound significance for us, highlighting the dedication and passion of our team,” say owners Robert Walshe and Richard Robinson. “To be recognised in such a prestigious regional competition underscores the authenticity and quality of all aspects we strive to maintain – including the very local produce from Exmoor.
“This recognition encourages us to continue pushing boundaries, offering unparalleled service, and creating unforgettable memories for every visitor to Highcliffe House. These awards inspire us to uphold our commitment to excellence in hospitality.”
FROM newcomers to old-hands... Sharpham Cheese is no stranger to the awards and its Rushmore cheese has collected medals before. This year it won Gold in Global Cheese Awards, Gold at the Great British Food Awards and Gold in Food Drink Devon Awards.
Sharpham Rushmore, a combination of 40% goat’s milk and 60% cow’s milk, was created when goat’s milk was mistakenly poured into the same tank as cow’s milk. Determined to avoid waste, they made a cheese with the mix and Sharpham Rushmore was the happy result. Delighted with their accidental invention, Sharpham gauged the public’s opinion at regional shows before bringing the cheese to market last year. Rushmore has a refreshing acidity, balanced with a rich and creamy flavour alongside a subtle floral sweetness and a lingering finish.
Greg Parsons, from Sharpham Dairy, says: “We’re absolutely thrilled to see Rushmore go for Gold, then go on to win the entire category as Champion Cheese. We all take pride in our work and strive to produce the best cheese, so this recognition goes such a long way.”
Rushmore is available for £5.50 for 230g from www. sharphamcheese.co.uk
