FGR boss upbeat ahead of Dons test

FOREST Green Rovers boss David Horseman believes his players are ready for what looks set to be a stern test at MK Dons today.

Rovers are looking to keep their momentum after a 4-2 win in the FA Cup first round against Scarborough Athletic.

On that momentum boost, the Rovers boss, pictured inset, said: “It’s a good lift, it was just important to be really professional. You go away to Scarborough again on a Tuesday night and then get back really late. It is important that you then come back with the victory... I think we made quite a lot of changes to what would probably be considered the strongest lineup and the boys got the job done.

“Everybody’s happy and for a long time this club have not won enough games, so to go on that astroturf and face quite a hostile atmosphere, it was good to win.”

Of course, Stadium MK is slightly different to the Flamingo Land Stadium and ahead of today’s match, Horseman said: “It’s a really impressive stadium, but sometimes it can feel a bit lacking in atmosphere, just because of the size of it and obviously the attendance is not the biggest for such a huge stadium and an amazing facility.

“We have to be really together; we have to be compact on the weekend. If we start to get spread out we are going to find it tough because individually they have got some really talented players in the forward line. Then we have to stay in the game for as long as we can.”

MK Dons are unbeaten in five in League Two, so there is no doubt that it will be an extremely tough test for the Rovers.
