-

phase coach Steve Tully have been assisting Taylor on what is understood to be a temporary basis.

The fact that the Rovers boss has not been able to bring in any of his own staff yet was referenced by captain Sam Finley in his post-match interview after Saturday’s defeat at Blackpool, saying: “It’s hard because he’s on his own. There has also been discussion as to whether Taylor’s former assistant at Rotherham United and Exeter City and former Rovers player Wayne

Carlisle could make a return to the club as a coach after leaving the Millers last week, having been the caretaker manager before Leam Richardson’s appointment. Carlisle was in attendance at the Memorial Stadium for Rovers’ 2-1 win over Portsmouth on Boxing Day but the reason as to why is unclear.

Rovers, in common with Bristol City, Cheltenham, Swindon and Forest Green, were in EFL action last night – but all games were after the Daily Press deadline. ■ Luton’s former Forest Green boss Rob Edwards, left, has revealed Tom Lockyer is already getting bored during his rehabilitation at home – but insists their upturn in results has nothing to do with his cardiac arrest.

Ex-Bristol Rovers man Lockyer collapsed during the Hatters’ clash at Bournemouth on December 16, which was subsequently abandoned.

Since then, Luton have beaten Newcastle and Sheffield United.

“He seems bored already, but in good spirits, which is really good,” Edwards revealed. “But I think we were tight (as a team) already, I don’t think it is because of what has happened (with Lockyer) that we’ve won two games of football.”
