-

Across the South West you’ll find plenty of places to stretch your legs and spot some of the early signs of spring – why not share some of your pictures with us on social media? Here are just a selection of places you might put on your list to visit this spring.

Prior Park Landscape Garden

In the spring and summer, brightly coloured dragonflies and damselflies can be seen hovering above the lakes.

Avebury

Unwind in the varied and inspiring ‘garden rooms’ of Avebury Manor Garden, right. Every time you turn a corner you will find something different.

Lacock Abbey

Bumble, honey and wild ‘solitary’ bees love visiting the botanic garden and wildflowers in the woodland at this time of year.

Max Gate

Follow in Thomas Hardy’s footsteps and take a stroll from Max Gate as he would have done.

Penrose

In the spring and summer months, butterflies and dragonflies can be seen in their dozens around the many tributaries that feed into the Pool.

Hidcote

Highlights of spring are the cherry and magnolia blossom, pictured right. The Cornus Mas in the Pine Circle and the Daphne all have a fantastic scent.

Newark

You can see, smell and taste the wild garlic found across the gardens and countryside at Newark in spring.

Montacute

Springtime at Montacute House means tulips. Look out for them around the South Lodge and the array of reds and yellows in East Court.

Godolphin

In the King’s Garden, cloud-like box hedges follow neat paths that shelter the primroses, pictured, below them.

Fyne Court

Enjoy a spring ramble at Fyne Court and spot primrose, bluebells, wood anemone and yellow archangel.
