OTHER WEST COUNTRY SEASIDE DINING HOTSPOTS

-

Godrevy Cafe – a very popular National Trust owned eatery, located among the low dunes overlooking Godrevy Lighthouse. A wonderful location serving great food – great for those wanting a walk around the headland.

Tolcarne Beach, Newquay - part of an impressive complex (including hotel) right down on this wonderful sandy beach – there’s a cafe which does beachside takeaways and a good restaurant, which does more complex menus with great local seafood.

Beach House, South Milton Sands, South Hams – located on this lovely National Trust owned shoreline, this establishment enjoys a huge reputation so can be very busy – booking a table is always recommended (https:// beachhousedevon.co.uk/).

Little Wonder Cafe, Cape Cornwall – not actually on a beach, but up on a clifftop, overlooking some of the most dramatic seaside scenery anywhere in the UK. “Quite quirky and really nice,” according to Cornish friends.

Wavecrest Cafe, Lizard Point – opened in the 1930s, this excellent establishment has been serving food and drink ever since and was awarded Cornwall Cafe of the Year 2023/24. Again, on a clifftop – but with ocean views second to none.

Winking Prawn, North Sands, Salcombe – classy place (what else in Salcombe?) for breakfast, lunch and dinner, offering everything from the classic breakfast to deep-fried popcorn shrimp baguettes, to chargrilled smoked tofu (https:// winkingprawn.co.uk/).

Sea Shanty Beach Cafe, Branscombe – amazing location, first established in 1939, open every day, classic seaside fare; everything from a full-English breakfast, to Branscombe beer-battered fish of the day.

Barricane Beach Café,

Woolacombe – famous hotspot (literally hot... this tucked-away spot is famed for its Sri Lankan curries) to be found just to the north of the vast main beach at Woolacombe.

Driftwood Café, Blue Anchor, West Somerset – open all year round, this 1930’s-style beachside café is very popular with locals. It does a great all-day breakfast, among other things.
