What about national pride and integrity?

-

AS I listen to the media reports regarding the referendum and negotiations with the EU, I find that one very important thing has been pushed into the background, forgotten and not spoken about.

That is our national pride and integrity.

There are many people in this country who are determined to overthrow hundreds of years of democracy. If these people realise their aims and force this Government to crawl back on their hands and knees to the EU like a chastised puppy, begging for forgiveness for even thinking that we could manage without them, then we will never be able to hold our heads high again.

The rest of the world will see this country as weak and ineffective, we will be the laughing stock for everyone. No one will take any notice of what our Government says. This once proud country which was held in high esteem and respect throughout the world, will be humiliated beyond belief.

The leaders of the EU would consider our actions as a sign of acceptance that they can impose any rules and regulations they choose without objection from us.

It seems ironic that 80 years ago we also had a weak and divided Government in life-changing negotiations with European leaders. History it seems, does repeat itself.

A democratic decision has been made, it is up to all the MPs and people to respect that decision and to carry it out.

Money isn’t everything. There are more important things at stake, than having to pay a little more for BMW cars or holidays.

It is called pride and respect for our country and ourselves
