AMERE glimpse of Meghan, the new Duchess of Sussex, in a teaser clip for this documentary sent the entire nation into ecstasies. She needs only utter one or two words and we will hang on them, determined to unravel any royal secrets.
In the trailer, Meghan is filmed looking at her veil on the eve of her wedding. “Fifty three countries, oh my goodness, it will keep us busy,” she laughs as she touches the veil, which has the flowers of all the countries in the commonwealth sewn into it.
She was no doubt referring to her new royal role as a Commonwealth Youth Ambassador, alongside husband Harry.
Viewers should tune in to this two-parter for more Meghan moments, but this is mainly an insight into the Queen’s role as a figure on the global stage as she passes the baton to the younger generation of royals.
Filmed over more than a year with privileged access to the Queen, her family, her staff and her residences, it tells the story of how the Commonwealth has been a central focus and passion throughout Her Majesty’s life.
Expect behind-the-scenes moments with several members of the royal clan, including Prince Charles and Princes William and Harry, Princess Anne and Sophie, Countess of Wessex.
It also draws on amazing cine footage from the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh’s private film archives. A unique insight into the Queen’s role, not just as Queen of our country, but as Queen to many around the world.
