This Country’s Daisy boosts poppy appeal

-

SUPPORT for a human poppy in Cirencester on Remembrance Sunday, has rocketed after actress Daisy May Cooper posted a message on Twitter urging people to join in.

The Bafta winner who plays Kerry Mucklowe in the BBC hit comedy, This Country, stayed in character for the message which has had over 40,000 views since the weekend, on social media.

In the video, Kerry has drawn a picture of the parish church in the Market Place which she admits looks like a cat, alongside a poppy, and as a nod to her obsession on screen with local celebrity Laurence Llewellyn-Bowen standing on the left of the sketch in a red poncho.

“I will be there and he should be there, it’s the least he can do,” she says. She adds: “We are not only going to remember the people who died but we are also trying to break the world record for a human poppy, which is currently 3,000 people, so if 3,001 people turn up on Sunday, that would be absolutely marvellous.”

The former Deer Park School pupil, along with her brother Char- lie, created the mockumentary about the lives of two young people living in a small village in the Cotswolds, which is now in its third series.

The human poppy, which will commemorate the end of the First World War, will start at 2pm in the Market Place. Anyone who would like to be part of the human poppy can apply at www.cirencdt.co.uk
