Beckhams build £30,000 tennis court for Romeo
FORMER Posh Spice Victoria Beckham apparently really, really wants son Romeo to become a tennis star – so badly that she is building him a £30,000 court at their Cotswolds home.
While her colleagues were planning a reunion, Victoria was busy arranging for 16-year-old Romeo to have his own artificial grass court at their £6 million home.
It is part of 44-year-old Victoria’s bid to make Romeo “the David Beckham of the tennis world”, says the Daily Mail.
Chelsea Flower Show gold medalwinning designer Marcus Barnett is said to be behind the plans to remodel the grounds of their country pile in a celebrity enclave of the Cotswolds.
Aerial photos released this week show that a £30,000 artificial grass tennis court is nearly complete at their home on the Gloucestershire borders.
Rumour has it that Victoria has already paid £12,000 so Romeo can play at the posh Queen’s tennis club in London. As well as playing with British No 2 Kyle Edmund, Romeo has also trained with Andy Murray and Grigor Dimitrov and posted pictures of himself with tennis stars such as women’s No 1 Simona Halep and No 2 Caroline Wozniacki.
The couple reportedly paid over £6.15m for three disused listed barns and hired Soho House architect Michael Ergatoudis.
But their bid to create a nine-bed family home has not been plain sailing because of planning wrangles which have delayed their move-in date.
