Glovers score four in Trophy

YEOVIL TOWN ................ 4 WEST HAM U21 .............. 0

YEOVIL Town rounded-off their Checkatrade Trophy campaign on a positive note with a big win over West Ham United Under-21s.

Not many people were there to see it, though, with an official attendance of just 720.

The Glovers knew they were out whatever the result, but Shaun Donnellan gave them a first-half lead when he bundled the ball in from a corner. A Tunji Akinola own goal made it two before Tom James fired in a fine free-kick. Enes Mahmutovic then rounded things off late on with his first goal for the club.

Yeovil made six changes to their side – the maximum permitted by the competition’s rules – which included a debut for academy product Daniel Ojo. The 17-yearold started at left-back, while goalkeeper Stuart Nelson also came into the starting XI for his first appearance of the season.

After Donnellan broke the deadlock with a scruffy goal in the first half, the Glovers doubled their lead shortly after half-time when Olufela Olomola broke away down the left before sending in a cross that defender Akinola turned into his own net.

In the 64th minute, James increased the lead further. In what is becoming an increasingly regular occurrence for Yeovil, the right-back sent in a dipping and turning free-kick that deceived the goalkeeper.

And in the 83rd minute it was four as Mahmutovic, at full stretch, was first to a free-kick and found the bottom corner.
