Late Lucas brace earns a point for the Seagulls

-

JAMIE Lucas scored twice in the last ten minutes to rescue a point for Weston-super-Mare as they drew 3-3 at Dulwich Hamlet last night.

Dominic Vose gave the home side an early lead, but Gethyn Hill drew the National League South’s bottom side level by the break.

However, Nathan Ferguson and Ashley Carew put Hamlet two goals clear by the 52-minute mark. Lucas, though, hit back with an 81st-minute penalty and another strike soon after.

Yate recovered from conceding an early goal to win an entertaining derby at Bristol Manor Farm 4-2 and stretch their unbeaten run to ten games in the Southern League.

Jamie Bird opened the scoring for Farm after only four minutes of this Division One South game when his shot skidded in off a wet surface, but Ben Brooks equalised for Yate five minutes later and he also made it 2-1 before the break when he latched onto a pass from Adam Price.

It was 3-1 to Yate on 53 minutes through Ollie Mehew, but Farm pulled a goal back soon afterwards when Martin Stowell scrambled the ball home following a corner.

The home side then went all out for the leveller in the closing stages, but Yate made the ending less tense when Price sent a free-kick past Ben John and into the top corner with ten minutes left.

Despite fielding a much-changed side, Taunton came from behind to beat Wincanton 2-1 away in the second round of the Somerset Premier Cup last night.

Wincanton rocked Taunton in the 15th minute when they took the lead through Brett Cotterill, who netted with a long-range effort. But firstteam regular Rocky Neal levelled on 74 minutes after an error by the goalkeeper, and the same player headed a winner five minutes later.
