Hooded raider es­capes with cash af­ter ty­ing up res­tau­rant worker

A RES­TAU­RANT worker was tied up by a hooded rob­ber while cash­ing up on Sun­day night, po­lice said.

The staff mem­ber at Frankie & Benny’s in Glouces­ter had his wrists taped to a rail as the of­fender left with a bag full of cash.

The man man­aged to break free and raise the alarm at the eatery in St Oswald’s Re­tail Park in St Oswald’s Road.

Po­lice are now ap­peal­ing for in­for­ma­tion from the pub­lic about the rob­bery, which hap­pened at around 11.15pm.

A po­lice spokesman said: “A mem­ber of staff was cash­ing up when an un­known male en­tered the of­fice, threat­ened him with a knife and de­manded that he handed over the cash, which he did.

“Be­fore mak­ing off with the money in a black draw­string JD bag, the of­fender taped the man’s wrists to a rail near to the fire exit. The man man­aged to break free.”

The of­fender is de­scribed as a white man, 6ft tall, of stocky build and wear­ing a black hoodie, black track­suit trousers, a black hat and a scarf over his face.

He made off through the back of the re­tail park in the di­rec­tion of Mer­cia Road.

Any­one with in­for­ma­tion that could help the po­lice is asked to call 101, quot­ing in­ci­dent 403 of Novem­ber 4.
