Fracking must be stopped immediately

Western Daily Press - - Opinion -

FOSSIL fuel fracking has begun in my birth county of Lancashire against the will of many people.

In my case a modest financial contribution to the people’s Davidean legal team was steamrolled by the Goliathean might of our state, sadly allied to corporate financial clout.

Still my money was well spent and I shall be raiding the pension pot again. They must be stopped and the people’s will accepted for developing

the now virtually banned onshore wind, the cheapest potential source of energy.

Fracking flies in the face of what scientists advise in the latest IPCC report – we must keep global temperature rise to under 1.5C.

The only upside is the wonder inspired by watching Westminster spin doctors as they perversely struggle to promote their planet-polluting economics as “environmental localism”. My incredulous awe at their brazen cheek. Jumping onto a Green GB Week soapbox, yet still selling what is patently the world’s worst quack cure for confronting nature’s unbridled powers – powers we have already seen enough of this past year.

It’s time the fossil fuel showmen were told we aren’t buying your snake oil quackery – stop fracking now. Michael T Parker
