The people deserve to be punished

-

IT is not Theresa May who is responsible for the Brexit debacle – but the people who have refused to accept the result of the referendum and have spent the last two years undermining the negotiations at every opportunity.

This divisiveness has only encouraged the EU’s negotiators to play hard ball – knowing that she was coming to the table with one hand tied behind her back.

Had we presented a united front, Barnier et al would have been forced to adopt a less intransigent attitude to the negotiations. As it is they have taken the dissension here as encouragement to make things as difficult as they can for this country.

Theresa May has been forced into making the best of a bad job – fighting off her political opponents while being stabbed in the back by members of her own party – little wonder she has been forced into accepting a less-than-ideal deal!

If the worst comes to the worst and we are faced with a snap general election, I will be voting Labour – not because I have any respect for Corbyn or his political views but because I believe that the people of this country deserve to be punished – especially the younger generation who have never experienced the economic chaos that has been the legacy of every Labour government since the end of the Second World War.

As for the Eurocrats, they will discover to their cost that they can kiss goodbye to any hope of meaningful military assistance from a Britain led by a man who is a friend of terrorists; wants to get rid of our nuclear deterrent, and regards the former USSR and the current regime in Venezuela as ideal systems of government!

I would not be the least bit surprised if her efforts over the last two years haven’t taken ten years

(at a conservative estimate – pun

intended) off her life. Robert Readman
