Italians stage Banksy show
AN unauthorised Banksy exhibition featuring around 80 works by the Bristol artist has opened in Italy.
A Visual Protest: The Art of Banksy is the first Banksy exhibition in an Italian public museum.
The show, at the MUDEC museum in Milan, opened just weeks after the artist grabbed international attention by partially shredding one of his works at a London auction.
Curator Gianni Mercurio said the stunt boosted the artist’s popularity with the public but also the art establishment.
He added: “This performance and the explosion of prices of works by Banksy has gathered interest from certain mechanisms and people in the art system that had up until now snubbed him.”
The show runs until April 14.
