A MAN who died in an incident at work in Cheltenham has been named.

He was Ian David Challinor, of Bishop’s Cleeve, near Cheltenham, and he died at Cheltenham Tool Co in the town’s Swindon Road on Tuesday, November 13. The details were revealed at the opening of an inquest into the 57-year-old’s death.

A spokesman for the Gloucestershire coroner’s service said: “On November 13, he was apparently, along with other work colleagues, attempting to move a very large heavy milling machine using a forklift.

“In so doing, the milling machine has shifted or fallen off the forklift, crushing Mr Challinor underneath. Paramedics were called. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 12.45pm. The police are now liaising with the Health and Safety Executive.”

Yesterday’s inquest was opened and adjourned to noon on May 2 2019 at the coroner’s court in Gloucester.
