Death of nuclear consultant
A GREAT man, Dr John Large has died of a heart attack. He was pivotal in the Stop Hinkley campaign, which shut the Hinkley A station in May 2000 after he exposed the danger of running the plant with corroded inlet pipes, which he argued could lead to a nuclear fuel fire.
John was generous with his time and freely advised us, and the media, on the risks from cracks and reactor core weakening at Oldbury and Hinkley B stations. He will leave a big gap in the hearts of campaigners across the country.
