Historic scoreline

-

PATRICK Mahomes threw six touchdowns but had two costly interceptions as the Los Angeles Rams beat the Kansas City Chiefs 54-51 – the first NFL game where both sides scored over 50 points.

At half-time it was level at 23-23. Chiefs quarterback Mahomes hit Tyreek Hill with a pass for a 73-yard score in the fourth to make it 40-37, but Jared Goff ’s fourth touchdown pass was the most important: Mahomes hit Chris Conley to put the Chiefs up by four with 2:50 left, but Goff led the Rams back and connected with Gerald Everett for a score with two minutes left. Kansas headed downfield needing three to force overtime, but Mahomes was picked off on the LA 48 before he was intercepted on his final drive as the Rams won.
