Ton-up duo give Pakistan the edge

-

CENTURIES from Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq helped Pakistan edge ahead on day three of the third Test against New Zealand in Abu Dhabi, where William Somerville kept things in the balance with four wickets.

Ali hit 134 and Shafiq 104 as Paksitan, replying to New Zealand’s first-innings score of 274, collapsed from 304 for five to 348 all out.

Somerville claimed his maiden Test wicket when he had Ali caught at short fine leg and went on to finish with figures of four for 75 off 36 overs.

By the close, New Zealand were 26-2.
