Uniform firm’s £19m funding

-

A BRISTOL uniform-making company has secured £19 million to manufacture and provide more than 140,000 items of protective equipment for UK fire and rescue services.

Bristol Uniforms, which was established in 1801 and employs more than 180 people, designs and manufactures high-performance protective garments for the emergency services.

The firm secured the finance from HSBC, which will help it deliver a major local authority contract to supply personal protective equipment (PPE) to fire services across Britain. Bristol Uniforms has already supplied PPE to Buckinghamshire Fire Service as part of the contract and delivered more than 50,000 items for the London Fire Brigade at the end of October.

Ian Mitchell, joint managing director at Bristol Uniforms, said: “The funding allows us to deliver on our contract to produce PPE for over 20 fire and rescue services over the next eight years and counting.

“This contract will help the fire services save lives but it is so vitally important to the future of our business.”
