Film­ing starts for Pro­fumo drama

CAM­ERAS and stars dressed in 1950s at­tire were spot­ted film­ing scenes about one of the most in­fa­mous scan­dals in British his­tory out­side an iconic Bris­tol build­ing on Satur­day.

Crews have been busy film­ing The Trial of Chris­tine Keeler at the Wills Build­ing, based at the top of Park Street.

Stu­dent news­pa­per Epi­gram has re­ported the build­ing is be­ing made to re­sem­ble the House of Com­mons in­side.

The six-part drama will be aired on BBC One later this year. It is cur­rently be­ing shot at Hen­grove’s Bot­tle Yard Stu­dios.

Based on one of Bri­tain’s most in­fa­mous po­lit­i­cal scan­dals – the Pro­fumo af­fair – the se­ries fol­lows young model Chris­tine Keeler (So­phie Cook­son) who has an af­fair with poli- ti­cian John Pro­fumo (Ben Miles).

Keeler is si­mul­ta­ne­ously ac­cused of be­ing in­volved with a So­viet naval of­fi­cer and is, as a re­sult, placed at the cen­tre of a pos­si­ble na­tional se­cu­rity risk.

Also join­ing the all-star cast is El­lie Bam­ber (The Nut­cracker and the Four Realms), Nathan Ste­wart-Jar­rett (Mis­fits) and An­thony Welsh (Black Mir­ror).
