Filming starts for Profumo drama

-

CAMERAS and stars dressed in 1950s attire were spotted filming scenes about one of the most infamous scandals in British history outside an iconic Bristol building on Saturday.

Crews have been busy filming The Trial of Christine Keeler at the Wills Building, based at the top of Park Street.

Student newspaper Epigram has reported the building is being made to resemble the House of Commons inside.

The six-part drama will be aired on BBC One later this year. It is currently being shot at Hengrove’s Bottle Yard Studios.

Based on one of Britain’s most infamous political scandals – the Profumo affair – the series follows young model Christine Keeler (Sophie Cookson) who has an affair with poli- tician John Profumo (Ben Miles).

Keeler is simultaneously accused of being involved with a Soviet naval officer and is, as a result, placed at the centre of a possible national security risk.

Also joining the all-star cast is Ellie Bamber (The Nutcracker and the Four Realms), Nathan Stewart-Jarrett (Misfits) and Anthony Welsh (Black Mirror).
