PROCESSING OUTSOURCED

-

A FOOD firm in Devon has begun flying some of its products to Vietnam to be processed because it can’t recruit enough workers.

The Blue Sea Food Company, in Torbay, said they did all they could to get local workers into the business, but it’s “really tough getting people through the door”.

60 per cent of the firm’s workers come from the EU.

The story is included in the first of a nine episode run of Inside Out South West, the BBC’s regional investigations programme, which airs on BBC One at 7.30pm on Monday, January 14. It will be available on iPlayer immediately afterwards.
