Taunton lose top scorer

-

TOP scorer Andrew ‘Rocky’ Neal has become the latest and fourth player to quit Taunton Town in the last few days.

He has rejoined big-spending Southern Premier South rivals Truro City along with vice-captain Shane White and talented midfielder Ryatt Brett.

Taunton’s captain last season Matt Wright has also left Taunton to play for ambitious Plymouth Parkway.

Neal’s departure is another blow for Taunton who were hopeful he would stay on with the Somerset club.

Truro, who finished top of Southern Premier South last season, are reported to be offering players cash offers they cannot refuse.

Neal’s departure has upset supporters who helped fund his knee operation in February which brought a halt to his season.

Neal scored 22 goals in 31 appearances for Taunton last season, making him the division’s top scorer before he was injured in January.

Taunton remain upbeat, however, and say they will be announcing “some new exciting signings” for next season.
