No beer, just ballots as polls hosted at pubs

-

HUNDREDS of people around the West popped into their local pub yesterday – but they weren’t breaching Covid-19 rules.

While we can’t set foot inside a pub for a pint until Monday, May 17, a number of pubs around the region were yesterday used as polling stations. Among the Gloucestershire pubs being used were the Frocester George and Cider With Rosie author Laurie Lee’s local the Woolpack in Slad.

Voters around the West were yesterday voting for police and crime commissioners, for mayors in Bristol and the West of England and council seats in Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Bristol and Swindon.

See tomorrow’s Western Daily Press for the first results – with other counts not due to happen until the weekend there will be more results coverage in Monday’s newspaper.
