Fox joins the Trailfinders
BATH scrum-half Ollie Fox will join Ealing Trailfinders at the end of the season, writes John Evely.
The 23-year-old, who has made 19 appearances in Blue, Black & White, leaves in search of regular game time at a crucial stage of his career, having joined the club from Yorkshire Carnegie in 2019.
Head coach Neal Hatley said: “While we’re disappointed to see Foxy leave, we fully understand his desire to play first-team rugby.
“He is a really popular member of our squad who has bought into being a Bath player, and despite the tough season we have had, he has been a real positive influence among the playing squad. We wish him all the very best with what’s next in his rugby journey.”
Fox added: “I’m very sad to be leaving a club that means a lot to me, and although this season has been tough, I have had so many amazing experiences at Bath.
“I’ve genuinely made friends for life, and I’ve enjoyed every opportunity that has come my way, but it’s the right time for a change and a new challenge.
“Thank you to the coaches, my teammates and the fans for the support I’ve had while I’ve been here, and I wish everyone the best of luck for the seasons to come.”
Fox has provided cover behind England man Ben Spencer this season, while fellow number nine Joe Simpson, who is currently on loan from Gloucester, is also expected to move on at the end of the season. That leaves just Max Green – who is on loan to Bristol – as the only other senior scrumhalf on the books along with new signing Louis Schreuder, who is joining from Newcastle Falcons, while England Under-20s scrumhalf Tom Carr-Smith is coming through from the academy.
